New Years Eve, New You: The Top 7 Makeup Trends of 2019 to Copy for New Years Eve

2020. A new year, a new decade and a new chance to dream. Whether you’ll be spending the night on the dance floor, partying till dawn or having a relaxing night with loved ones it always feels good to be heading into the New Year looking your best. Here are my top 7 makeup trends from 2019 to copy for the big night ahead.

1. Monochrome Makeup

Choose one colour and stick with it. Use pink or berry shades on the eyes, lips and cheeks for a beautiful blush or bitten look. The best part of this trend is it’s easy to achieve and it looks stunning. UseUrban Decays Backtalk Palette for some inspo.

Perfect for: When you want something simple.

2. Graphic Eyeliner.

Bold, exciting and a little bit different. Mark the start of the decade with a POP that will have people talking. Keep it simple with straight lines or follow the curve of your eyelid. No need for eye shadow, this will do all the talking. Use black for a more classic look or use one of Too Faced’s many coloured eyelinersfor something more fun!

Perfect for: Dancing all night.

3. Glowy Skin

It’s all about skin. Aim for a glossy glow this New Years, mixing illuminator with your foundation and use gold or rose gold highlighter on the cheeks and eyes. For a little extra apply clear gloss on the eyelids for a wet glow. Add a little mascara and you’re done! Just make sure you don’t outshine the disco ball.

Perfect for: A chill house party.

4. Neon Eyes

Think 80s with a twist. Sweep orange or pink eyeshadow along the eyelid and under the lower lash line for an instant cool look or apply to the  inner corners of the eye for a subtle pop of colour. The Huda Beauty Neon Obsessions Palettes are perfect for this! Pair with an all black outfit for Kendall Jenner vibes.

Perfect for: Adding some fun to a simple outfit.

5. Black Smokey Eyes

A little bit rock and roll to make those eyes pop. Blend black eyeshadow all over the eyelids for instant cool vibes and a twist on the normal smokey eye. Pair with red lipstick for a more vampy look or with nude ah la Kim K or Sophie Turner.

Perfect for: A night on the town.

6. Crystal Eyeliner

Be too glam to give a damn. This look had been blessing Instagram for a while and it’s stunning. Using eyelash glue, apply little flat backed gem stones to the upper lash line. Match with nude or pink lipstick for a feminine finish. Not feeling sparkles? Try pearls instead.

Perfect for: Standing out in the crowd.

7. Glitter

Put it on your lips, on your eyes, on your nails! Glitter is always in style, it’s just up to you how much to use. For a simple look line your eyes with it or use a glitter lipstick (Ciate London Glitter Flip Lipsticks are a personal favourite). Cover your lids in lose glitter for a more sheer look or use one of Stila’s Magnificent Metal Liquid Eyeshadows for a more intense look.

Perfect for: Partying until the sun comes up.
