My Favourite Trends for Autumn and Winter 2020

As the season changes, so do the fashion choices we make. Instead of wearing singlets and mum-jeans, soon Australians will be nestling down into jumpers and layering up scarfs. While warm weather will always hold my heart, I cant deny that the fashion for Autumn and Winter is more fun. You can play with more colours, layer and combine looks. As Paris Fashion Week has come to a close, new inspiration is all around and there’s more to come.

Here’s what I’m currently loving for Autumn and Winter.

Browns, Nudes, White.

Instead of drifting towards the usual dark romantic colours, I’m loving browns, nudes and whites this year.

There’s something classy and cool about these colours, they look fresh and clean, making your outfit look more put together. Power blazers and long trench coats are a must as the weather gets cooler, either paired with jeans for a more relaxed look or with a silk skirt. Mix and match different shades of brown and break them up with white and gold for a fresh look or go all monochrome. Don’t forget to match your nails to complete the look.

Sometimes wearing something understated pulls a look together. Minimalism was out in force on the runways and its here to stay. Think simple cuts, tailored separates and straight lines. Want to stand out a little? Suits in bright colours are still very on trend, so don’t be afraid to test the waters with some colour. Add a tote-bag , leave your hair undone and add a simple gold chain to pull it all together.

Romantic Hair.

Think braids, plaits, curls and an effortless undone look that wouldn’t look out of place in your favourite romantic novel. Add some product into your hair to define curls and waves or loosely pull back the front and let your hair frame your face. My favourite day tonight look is taking out the braids, giving yourself mermaid waves.

Going out? For something for refined tie your hair up in a low messy bun or pull it to the side and plait it. Look at Blake Lively and Lucy Hale for inspiration and accessorise with flowers.

Bitten or Barely There Lips.

Not sure what lipstick to pair with your new wardrobe and hair? Bitten lips are the latest trend taking over according to ELLE Australia. Wear a berry colour to bring attention to the lips and blot it, smudging the edges. It can be worn day or night, it looks elegant and beautiful.

Dont like a bold lip? Barely there makeup is still trending. I love the no makeup makeup look! Wear a pale nude on the lips and add a coat of mascara for simple glam.

Leather and Lace

Want some class with a little bad-ass on the side? Lace and faux leather are always an amazing combination. Bright leather was in focus at Milan Fashion Week but I can’t go past a classic nude, brown or black jacket. With a simple cut they can be classy or wear one covered in zips for something more edgy.

Iconic Chanel showed that lace is still in still in their Fall-Winter 2020/21 collection. They paired it with pearls and boots, showing how versatile the fabric is. Lace adds just the right touch of femininity and always looks good no matter the season.

What are your favourite trends this year?
